The Quiet Envelope

During the lockdowns in Cork, an elderly couple found an envelope on their doorstep. Inside was a grocery voucher and a handwritten message:

"If you need it, use it.

If you don't, pass it on."

The next week, another envelope appeared at another house. And then another. The handwriting changed. The amounts varied. But the spirit remained the same.

No one knew who started it.

No one tried to find out.

It was better that way.

When restrictions lifted, a group of parishioners met to pray. One said, "I don't know who helped me, but I know God has neighbors."

The quiet envelope became a liturgy — silent, simple, sustaining.
